Want a straight smile without having to endure a mouth full of metal? Traditional braces are reliable and effective, but are an undesirable process to some, especially adults. For many patients, clear aligner therapy with Invisalign® is an appealing alternative. Read on to learn more about Invisalign Invisalign and why it might be a perfect fit for your smile.

Invisalign vs. Traditional Braces

Traditional braces, both metal and ceramic, have been proven to be effective, but some patients find them unsightly and uncomfortable because of the brackets and wires. Plus, some adults may associate braces with an awkward phase in their adolescence. And most notably, braces require several lifestyle adjustments when it comes to mealtimes and oral hygiene.

Invisalign is an orthodontic solution that offers the same great results for mild to moderate misalignment. The most obvious benefit being that Invisalign is clear and barely noticeable–but there’s more! Your oral hygiene routine doesn’t need to change, they are made of smooth plastic that is comfortable and easy to clean, and you’ll only need to visit us every six weeks for checkups. Treatment time varies, but typically takes between 12-18 months.

The Invisalign Process

So how does it work? The first step is to set up a consultation with Dr. Chaney here at Chaney Dental in Prairie Village, KS. We’ll identify your alignment issues, determine whether Invisalign truly is the right solution for you, and discuss your treatment plan and financial options. Then, once you get your first set of trays, you’ll need to wear them for 20-22 hours a day for optimal results. Every two weeks, we’ll provide you with a new custom tray based on where your teeth are and where we want them to end up.
